BaT Auction: 52K-Mile 1995 Range Rover Classic
This 1995 Range Rover County Classic is stated to be a rare Tom Walkinshaw Racing (TWR) Special Vehicles edition from the factory. This vehicle was purchased new from Land Rover Parsippany by a New Jersey attorney and driven sparingly before being sold to a Pennsylvania dealer in fall 2017. The seller acquired the vehicle six months ago and has since added approximately 200 of its 52k indicated miles. Power is supplied to all four wheels by a 3.9L V8 mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission. Recent work included a partial repaint as well as a new battery, headliner, and tailgate. This Range Rover Classic is offered with a clean Carfax report and clear Ohio title.
TWR Special Vehicles Ltd. partnered with Land Rover to develop a styling package for Range Rovers consisting of specially-designed front and rear bumpers, and TWR alloy wheels. This example is said to be one of seven Classic’s produced with the package in 1995, and remains unaltered from factory spec. A partial Beluga Black repaint was performed in late 2017 to address a scratched driver-side rear door and quarter panel as well as a scuffed front bumper. A tailgate was sourced to replace the dented original, painted to match, and refitted with original lettering and badges. The work was performed at a cost of just over $2,300 according to a receipt in the gallery below.
Period-correct 205/80 Michelin tires are mounted on factory 16″ alloy wheels. Bilstein shocks have been added to the factory electronic air suspension, which received new front and rear airbags in 2013. Photos showing the current condition of the fender wells can be found in the gallery. The truck received a full detailing at Esoteric Auto Detail of Columbus, Ohio in April 2018.
The interior is finished in Sorrell Tan leather and figured walnut trim, and the headliner was replaced in December 2017. The driver’s seat control board is currently being fitted with a new battery and will need to be reinstalled once the repair is completed.
Just under 52k miles are indicated on the odometer. Traction control and ABS lights are said to remain illuminated despite recent replacement of the stop light switch.
The 3.9-liter V8 sends power to all four wheels through a ZF 4HP22 4-speed automatic transmission, Borg-Warner transfer case, and locking center differential. The seller states that the starter was replaced in 2013, a new muffler was fitted in January 2016, and a fresh battery was installed in March 2017. A power steering leak is noted by the seller.
The Carfax report shows a single owner prior to the seller and contains eight service history records, including a fuel tank replacement in January 2008.
The sale includes the original owner’s literature, a window sticker showing an MSRP of $40k, and two sets of keys with functional remotes. Partial service receipts will also be provided.
