BaT Auction: 1991 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 Targa 5-Speed
This 1991 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 Targa is finished in black over a tan leather interior and currently shows 109k indicated miles. The seller has added approximately 15k miles since acquiring the car in 2008, primarily on fair weather days in the backcountry hills of North Carolina. The 3.6-liter flat-six sends power to all four wheels through a 5-speed manual gearbox, and modifications include an aftermarket stereo along with a custom fiberglass targa top. This 964 is now being offered with an extra set of polished D90 wheels, 10 years of service records, a clean Carfax, and a clear North Carolina title in the seller’s name.
No prior accidents or damage are shown on the included Carfax, and the black exterior is further detailed in the gallery below. The factory folding targa top has been modified with a with a fiberglass cover which is finished to match the body. The seller reports that the car is stored indoors when not in use.
Two sets of D90 wheels are included with the sale. The currently-installed set are finished in factory silver and wear painted Porsche crest center caps along with Yokohama Avid V4s. The second set is polished with matching center caps and comes without a set of tires as pictured in the gallery below.
The C4 all-wheel-drive system delivers 31% of the power to the front wheels and 69% to the rear under normal driving conditions. According to the seller, the brake pad wear indicator turns on occasionally, and the pads are due for replacement in the near future.
The cabin is trimmed in tan leather with matching carpet, and it has been fitted with a modern Kenwood head unit along with larger speakers in the doors and rear parcel shelf.
The airbag-equipped factory steering wheel and leather-wrapped shift knob have been retained. 109k miles are currently shown on the odometer.
The air/oil-cooled 3.6L flat-six sends power to all four wheels through a 5-speed manual gearbox. Factory power ratings were 247 hp and 228 lb-ft of torque when new. Synthetic oil has been used during the seller’s ownership, and the last reported oil service was performed at 108k miles. A new starter and ignition switch were installed in 2014, along with a replacement power steering pump, reservoir, and power steering hose.
A handwritten maintenance log as well as receipts from service are included, and other notable services included a new dual mass flywheel, clutch, axle boots, and alternator in 2008. The accident-free Carfax can be seen in the gallery.
