The 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 is the fastest and most powerful Corvette ever created and the company has just released a new video showing the model hitting its top track speed of 212 mph (341 km/h).

Since those kinds of speeds require plenty of space, Chevrolet traveled to Papenburg, Germany to test the model on ATP’s high-speed oval which measures 7.6 miles (12.3 km) long. As you can see in the video, the car actually reaches speeds in excess of 212 mph (341 km/h) as it hits 214.88 mph (345.81 km/h) during its first run.

During the second run, where the car traveled in the opposite direction, it only managed to hit 210.20 mph (338.28 km/h). Since the top track speed is calculated by averaging those two numbers, the final result was 212.54 (342.04 km/h).

That number clearly puts the Corvette ZR1 in supercar territory as it is faster than the Ferrari 488 GTB and Lamborghini Huracán Performante. In fact, the model has the same top speed of as the McLaren 720S which costs significantly more.

In order to hit those impressive speeds, engineers equipped with ZR1 with an exclusive supercharged 6.2-liter LT5 V8 engine that develops 755 hp (563 kW / 765 PS) and 715 lb-ft (968 Nm) of torque. It can be connected to either a seven-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Besides the almighty engine, the ZR1 has four new radiators, a carbon fiber “halo” hood and an aerodynamic body kit. The standard “Low Wing” aero package enables the car to hit its maximum top speed but the company also offers an optional ZTK Performance Package. The latter includes a front splitter, a retuned suspension, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires and an adjustable High Wing that provides approximately 950 lbs (430 kg) of downforce.

Pricing starts at $119,995 for the coupe and $123,995 for the convertible.
