BaT Auction: 1987 Porsche 911 Turbo
This 1987 Porsche 911 Turbo is finished in black over black partial leather and was optioned from the factory with powered sport seats, a limited-slip differential, and an electric sunroof. The numbers-matching turbocharged 3.3-liter flat-six is mated to the original 4-speed manual gearbox, and records document a top-end rebuild and engine reseal in 2016. 17” Fuchs-style wheels and a 3-spoke sport steering wheel have been installed along with window tint. Now showing just under 75k miles, this 911 Turbo is being offered by the selling dealer with some records from the last few years, a Porsche CoA, a clean Carfax report, and a clear Ohio title.
Production of this car was completed on December 9, 1986, and it is one of about 1,600 US-market Turbo coupes produced for the model year. 30 paint meter readings of the black (A1) finish are provided in the gallery below, showing results of between 3.2 and 13.2 mils. No history of accidents or other damage is shown on the recent Carfax report.
Tint has been applied to the windows, and the car is equipped with a power sunroof. 17” reproduction Fuchs wheels wear a staggered set of Kumho Ecsta tires that measure 235/45 up front and 315/35 out back and show date codes from 2013. Each corner is shown up close in the gallery below.
Factory sport seats are trimmed in black partial leather and feature electric height adjustments. A 3-spoke sport steering wheel has been added, and the stock Blaunpunkt Reno Cassette stereo is retained in the dash.
Just under 75k miles are indicated on the 6-digit odometer. While the boost gauge is said to work properly, the tachometer operates intermittently despite being replaced 18 months ago. The air conditioning and other accessories are reported to function.
A decode of the option code sticker lists the following options:
- C02 – Catalytic converter
- 018 – Steering wheel with elevated hub
- 158 – Blaupunkt Reno cassette stereo
- 220 – Locking differential 40%
- 383 – Sports seat, left, electrical height adjustment
- 387 – Sports seat, right, electrical height adjustment
- 533 – Alarm
- 650 – Sunroof
The original turbocharged 3.3L flat-six was resealed and received a top end rebuild in 2016. An oil and brake fluid service will be completed for the next owner, and results from a February 2017 leakdown test reportedly indicated under 5% loss across all six cylinders.
Stamping #68H00555 pictured above and matches the CoA, confirming the engine as original. Transmission stamping #77H00933 is shown in the gallery and also matches the Porsche CoA.
Additional underbody photos are viewable in the gallery below.
The Porsche Certificate of Authenticity is shown above, confirming factory colors, engine and transmission numbers, and optional equipment.
A provided Carfax report lists no issues from its first entry in 1997 at 56k miles.
