BaT Auction: 2002 BMW M3 Coupe 6-Speed
This 2002 BMW M3 Coupe is finished in Imola Red over black leather and shows just under 100k miles. Originally purchased in Florida, the car has resided in Kansas since 2003. The seller purchased this E46 six years ago and has added 11k miles. Power comes from a 3.2-liter S54 inline-six paired to a 6-speed manual transmission. Drivetrain modifications include an aluminum flywheel, ATC clutch, UUC short shifter and an AFE intake kit. This E46 M3 is now offered with service records since 2003, a clean Carfax, and a clear Kansas title in the seller’s name.
The Imola Red finish shows paint chips on the hood and bumper. The seller says he has used the car in one high performance driver education event per year over the course of his ownership. The windshield shows considerable pitting and the seller reports there is a small dent on the passenger door and rear fender.
18″ BBS Motorsport wheels are fitted with Sumitomo HTRZ3 tires from 2009. An extra set of 18″ Apex wheels with Hankook Ventus RS4 tires are included in the sale as shown in the gallery below.
The cabin is upholstered in black leather with a leather shift knob, and leather-wrapped 3-spoke steering wheel. The seller says the power seats work, however the leather shows typical wear. Instrumentation is specific to the M3, which includes gray-faced gauges, a 185 MPH speedometer, and a variable LED redline on the tachometer. The odometer shows 99,578 miles, 11k of which were added by the seller since purchasing the car six years ago.
Power comes from a 3.2-liter S54 inline-six mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. Modifications include an AFE intake kit, ATC clutch, UUC short shifter, and a lightweight aluminum flywheel. The seller reports that the non-stock flywheel causes transmission gears to rattle at idle, and the RPMs to dip when the A/C compressor turn ons. Recent service in March 2018 included oil changes for the engine, transmission, and differential.
The chassis has been modified with TC Klein single adjustable coil-overs, a Turner strut bar strut bar, and front sway bar from Ground Control. The brakes were recently serviced with new front and rear brake pads.
Several removed OEM parts come with the sale including the coil overs, sway bar, flywheel and clutch.
The accident-free Carfax confirms mileage and shows ownership is Florida, New York, and Kansas.
