NASCAR’s Kyle Busch takes savage shot at Ricky Stenhouse Jr.
Among the many cars that could not finish the race thanks to what Stenhouse defended as “aggressive speedway racing” were the Busch brothers, and judging by Kyle’s press conference Friday at Kentucky Speedway, he’s still a little sour. As is custom for those who cause wrecks – especially when it keeps others from even finishing the race – drivers often apologize with a text or phone call once emotions cool off a day or two later.
But according to Busch, Stenhouse didn’t reach out, and the No. 18 Toyota driver isn’t thrilled but took a pretty funny shot back at the No. 17 Ford driver.
Here’s how his exchange during his press conference went ahead of Saturday’s Quaker State 400 at Kentucky:
Question: Did Ricky Stenhouse Jr. reach out to you this week? If so, did you communicate, and if so, was it worth while or a waste of time?
Busch: He did not reach out.
Q: Are you disappointed he didn’t reach out?
Busch: I am disappointed that he did not.
Busch: You wipe out half the field and pretty sure there would be a pretty busy Monday for him. But there wasn’t, so apparently he just doesn’t care.
Q: So does that change how you race him?
Busch: I can’t worry about people that far back in the field.
That’s easy for Busch to say with five wins through the first half of the NASCAR Cup Series season as he sits at the top of the driver standings. Stenhouse, on the other hand, is winless and 16th in the driver standings.
