BaT Auction: 1969 Ford F-250 Ranger Camper Special 4-Speed at No Reserve
This 1969 Ford F-250 Ranger Camper Special was sold new in Spokane, Washington and remained with the family of its original owner until its recent acquisition by the selling dealer. The truck is powered by a 360ci V8 backed by a 4-speed manual transmission and has received mechanical work including replacement of the timing gears and chain, an exhaust manifold, the oil pan gasket, and brake cylinders as well as a carburetor rebuild and more. This F-250 is offered at no reserve with a collection of shop manuals and supplements, a dealer brochure and color chart, and a clean Oregon title.
The truck was repainted in its original red in the 1980s, and the finish has been polished in preparation for the sale. The Ranger and Camper Special packages added body side mouldings, wheel arch trim, and a lockable storage compartment under the bed, with the latter missing its key. The seller details flaws including chips and dings, bubbling near the driver-side pickup box seam, a rust spot at the lower passenger door seam, and peeling tailgate chrome.
A detailed walk-around and driving video is provided above. The seller sourced a set of Ford steel wheels with LT235/85/15 all-terrain tires and dog dish hubcaps to replace older aftermarket steel wheels fitted by the original owners.
The cabin is trimmed in red vinyl with cloth inserts on the bench seat as well as a matching headliner and carpets. An aftermarket radio is fitted and cracks are visible in the speaker grille integrated into the upper dash pad. A stock radio is included in the sale.
The Ranger package added woodgrain trim on the instrument cluster and door panels. The seller notes that the speedometer, odometer, and oil pressure gauges are working, but the temperature, amperage, and fuel gauges are not. Approximately 31k miles are shown on the 5-digit odometer. Flaking chrome is described on the door panels along with small cracks on the steering wheel rim.
The 360ci V8 is equipped with a stock carburetor and a replacement air cleaner sourced by the seller. Other new parts include the timing gears and chain, an exhaust manifold, and rocker cover and oil pan gaskets. The carburetor was rebuilt and the radiator was flushed. The engine bay has been detailed and the block, cylinder heads, and rocker covers refinished in Ford blue.
The truck is equipped with a side-exit dual exhaust with twin tips on the passenger side. The seller has replaced the brake master and wheel cylinders, differential gasket, and differential oil as well as repacking the front wheel bearings and rear seals. A new transmission inspection plate gasket and gear oil were installed, and the chassis Zerk fittings were lubricated. The seller notes a patch on the passenger-side cab corner, with some pinholes apparent in the area.
