This 1997 Land Rover Defender 90 NAS is #575 out of 1,300 wagon examples built for the US market in that model year. It was sold in eastern North Carolina to the original owner, who added a rear differential locker and used it as a daily driver. He kept the truck until his passing in 2013, and it was stored in a garage for a year until his family liquidated his estate. The seller purchased it in April 2014 and serviced the 4.0-liter V8 with a new water pump, starter, and more as described below. The tie rod ends, front wheel bearings, front brake rotors, and all four brake pads were replaced as well, and the truck was serviced further in 2018 with an oil/filter change and new coolant. Now showing 156k miles, this D90 is being offered with the owner’s manual, and a clean North Carolina title in the seller’s name.

Aluminum body panels are finished in Coniston Green, and this example is equipped with a brush guard, side steps, and taillight guards. Some small dings and paint bubbles are shown up close in the gallery below. A roof rack and ladder have been removed by the seller, who notes that the truck has been parked in a warehouse when not in use.

The Slate Grey vinyl interior is equipped with a factory-installed air conditioning system. The previous owner installed a Pioneer head unit, and the original 5-disc CD changer is not working. The digital odometer indicates 156k miles, with approximately 9,500 being added by the seller.

The 4.0-liter V8 engine is paired to a ZF automatic transmission and a full-time four-wheel drive system with locking center differential. Since his purchase in 2014, the seller has replaced the water pump, steering damper, starter, and idle speed control valve. The truck was last serviced in the spring of 2018 with an inspection, oil/filter change, and a coolant change.

The accident-free Carfax confirms North Carolina registration since new and corroborates mileage with 25 odometer readings from January 1997 to March 2014. The report also shows detailed service records from the same shop in Wilmington over an 11 year period. Additional hand-written service records are logged in the maintenance portion of the included original owner’s manual.

The videos above feature a walk around and startup, and views of the interior while driving.
