BaT Auction: 30k-Mile 1987 Ferrari 328 GTS
This 1987 Ferrari 328 GTS is powered by a 3.2-liter quad-cam V8 mated to a 5-speed manual transaxle with a limited-slip differential. Finished in Rosso Corsa over tan Connolly leather, this Scaglietti-built car was delivered from the factory in September 1987 and originally sold in Illinois. After a brief time in Alabama, it was registered in Florida from 1996 to 2012. The car came to California last year and was acquired by the current owner after being auctioned on BaT in August 2017. 30,326 miles are now shown on the odometer, and receipts in the gallery indicate the timing belt was replaced 2k miles ago. This 328 GTS is being offered on behalf of the current owner with a clean Carfax report, the factory manuals, records since 2012, and a clean California title.
The Pininfarina-designed steel body is finished in Rosso Corsa (300), and the recent Carfax report is free of any accident reports. The lower rocker trim was refinished in 2017, and the seller notes of some small rock chips on the front of the car.
16″ factory wheels are mounted with Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ tires which show 2017 date codes. Braking comes from ventilated discs at all four wheels.
The interior is finished in tan Connolly leather and in 2017 the seats were removed for cleaning and minor repairs at a cost of $1,449. The vinyl trunk cover was also replaced, and the 3-spoke factory Momo steering wheel has been retained. A Blaupunkt head unit is fitted and a new storage cover for the targa top was installed in 2017.
Veglia instrumentation includes a 180-mph speedometer which houses the 5-digit odometer, indicating 30,326 miles. The current owner added about 1,600 miles in one year of ownership.
The mid-mounted 3.2-liter Tipo F105CB V8 features four valves per cylinder and a Bosch CIS fuel injection system. Receipts in the galley indicate that an engine tune-up in 2012 included new spark plugs and replacement of the starter motor. In 2013, the intake manifold gaskets were replaced, a new fuel pump was fitted, and an exhaust leaked was fixed. The timing belt was replaced in February 2017 at a cost of $1,400, and a year ago the oil was changed and the starter solenoid relay was replaced.
The 5-speed manual transaxle features a limited-slip differential and received new fluid and pan gasket in 2013. The CV boots were replaced in 2014, and a year ago the steering rack was overhauled and new tie rod ends were installed.
Factory manuals are included in the sale, along with service documents dating back to 2012 and the original warranty card.
The Carfax indicates no accidents or other damage, and the most recent mileage check shows 29,346 miles in September 2017.
