Head-On Collision With Car Causes Semi Truck To Burst Into Flames

This has to be one of the scariest and most unfortunate accidents we’ve seen lately – and we’ve seen a lot…

It all started when a runaway wheel rolled in front of a silver sedan traveling just ahead of the dashcam vehicle, causing the former to lose control and head towards oncoming traffic and directly into the path of that red semi truck.

The crash took place a couple of weeks ago in Voronezh, Russia, and according to the video’s description, the driver of the sedan, a 47-year old resident of the Voronezh region, had to be taken to the hospital with undisclosed injuries. Judging by how harsh that impact was, we can only hope that the injuries weren’t fatal.

As for the red semi, we reckon that the reason it burst into flames was the fact that after its left front wheel collapsed, one of the fuel tanks slid across the tarmac and probably ruptured, resulting in a fire.

About a minute into the video, we can see the driver of the semi jump out, seemingly OK. We’re actually surprised they waited that long, but it’s possible that they were either shaken up by the initial impact, or perhaps unaware of the extent of the fire.

Could something have been done to avoid all of this? From what we can see, probably not, especially once that stray wheel came flying in – the driver of the sedan would have needed superhuman reflexes in order to dodge it. It’s just a freak accident in which the driver of the sedan was unfortunate enough to be in the wrong place the wrong time.
