BMW 8-Series pricing confirmed
BMW has announced official pricing and specifications for its new 8-Series coupe and convertible.
The German car maker will officially unveil the M850i M Performance models to the public today after a private viewing for the media was held last week in Sydney.
It’s the first time customers can see the new M850i in the metal before they hit Aussie showrooms.
Officially on-sale now with first deliveries due in early next year, both models are powered by a ferocious 390kW/750Nm 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine and paired to BMW’s eight-speed automatic transmission, with the coupe able to accelerate from 0-100km/h in 3.7 seconds (the heavier convertible is 0.2 seconds slower).
More eye-watering than its performance, for some, may be its price tag. The BMW 8-Series coupe is set to be priced from $272,900 before on-road costs, while the convertible comes in at $281,900 plus on-road costs.
Three new colour options will be available, including a gloss primer grey with gold metallic flakes as seen on the convertible model on display to the media.
A range of equipment comes standard with the M850i coupe and convertible, including 20-inch M light alloy wheels, M Sport brakes, adaptive dampers, wireless smartphone charging, soft close doors, heated seats, centre armrest and steering wheel, BMW’s Driving Assistant Professional and BMW’s Live Cockpit Professional which includes a 12.3-inch instrument cluster, heads-up display, gesture control and a 10.2-inch control display.
Both models also come standard with BMW’s Laserlight headlights, which are able to see 500 metres down the road, and active anti-roll stabilisation with integral active steering.
The 8-Series coupe gets an M rear spoiler and M Carbon roof to reduce vehicle weight and lower its centre of gravity, while the convertible comes with a black soft top roof that can open and close in 15 seconds up to a speed of 50km/h.
