New Volkswagen Golf teased
Volkswagen has given us a look at what its eighth-generation Golf will look like.
The computer-generated sketch has come from a recent Volkswagen press conference in Germany.
The car maker has previously confirmed production for the Mk8 Golf will begin in June 2019 with deliveries in Australia expected to commence in mid 2020.
The sketch only shows a stylised side profile, but word is we won’t have to wait very long to see the actual thing with an official unveiling likely to be at the Geneva motor show in March.
The teaser image of a three-door hatch reveals thin headlights, a rear spoiler and a body line running from the headlight to taillight. But, the front and rear end remain a mystery.
According to a report from online website Carscoops, a slide presented at the conference shows the new Golf won’t premiere until the third quarter of next year, just a few weeks ahead of the production-spec Volkswagen I.D. hatch.
The report also suggests the new Golf may also have a larger wheelbase compared to the current model as well as a range of semi-autonomous features and offer at least one mild-hybrid powertrain.
Volkswagen has not confirmed any of the claims and further specifications are yet to be released.
