This 1959 Vespa 400 was sold new in France and purchased in 2016 by the seller, who is reportedly the third Canadian owner. Refurbished during previous ownership, this car is finished in Blue Narvick over a tan cloth interior and is powered by a 400cc 2-stroke twin paired with a 4-speed manual gearbox. Equipment includes a roll-back canvas top and a luggage rack, and recent service consisted of new spark plugs, a new front crank oil seal, and a new stainless steel exhaust system. This Vespa 400 is being offered in Montreal with some service records, literature, assorted spares, and a Quebec registration.

The car was refurbished during previous ownership and is finished in Blue Narvick (411). The canvas top is shown rolled back in the stowed position, and a luggage rack is equipped on the rear engine lid. A rearview mirror is equipped on the driver’s side, and the battery is located on a slide-out front tray in lieu of a luggage compartment, as shown in the gallery.

Cream-painted 10″ steel wheels wear polished Piaggio hubcaps and BFGoodrich Silvertown whitewall tires. Braking is provided by unassisted drums.

Suicide doors feature pull straps, fixed windows, and pivoting quarter windows. The 2-seat cabin is trimmed in patterned tan cloth and features Coco mats along with a rear parcel shelf. A spare tire is located under the passenger’s seat.

A single Veglia gauge located on the body-colored dashboard provides warning lights for fuel and charging, as well as a 110-km/h speedometer. The 5-digit odometer shows 28k kilometers (~17k miles), about 200 of which were added by the seller. Total mileage is unknown.

The air-cooled, 400cc 2-stroke twin is paired with a 4-speed manual gearbox which features a non-synchro first gear. An oil tank located in the engine compartment features a winding mechanism and pump that combines fuel and oil into the correct mixture. Maintenance performed in 2018 included new spark plugs, a new front crank oil seal, and a new stainless steel exhaust system.
